Sompraz D 40 Tablet is commonly prescribed for managing symptoms associated with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) in adult patients. GERD is a condition where stomach acid flows back into the oesophagus, leading to symptoms such as heartburn, regurgitation, and chest pain. This tablet helps to reduce the production of stomach acid, thereby alleviating symptoms of GERD. It also provides symptomatic relief from nausea and vomiting associated with GERD.

How does the Sompraz D 40 Tablet work?

Tab Sompraz D 40 combines two active ingredients: Domperidone and Esomeprazole. Domperidone acts as a prokinetic agent, enhancing gastrointestinal motility and reducing symptoms of nausea and vomiting. Esomeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor, inhibits gastric acid secretion by blocking the proton pumps in the stomach lining, thus reducing acidity. This dual action helps alleviate symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), including heartburn, regurgitation, and chest pain. Esomeprazole also aids in the healing of erosive esophagitis by reducing inflammation and promoting tissue repair. Sompraz D Tablet is effective in preventing symptomatic relapse of GERD and maintaining symptom control. It provides relief from symptoms of GERD-induced nausea and vomiting. Regular use of Tab Sompraz D before meals helps manage GERD symptoms. However, it’s important to use this medication under the guidance of a doctor and to follow the prescribed dosage regimen.

How do you take a Sompraz D 40 Tablet?

Tab Sompraz D 40 should be taken orally with a glass of water, usually 1 hour before meals. It is important to swallow the tablet whole without crushing or chewing it. The daily dose of  Tab Sompraz D 40 is one tablet. The dosage may vary based on your medical condition and response to treatment. It is essential to follow the instructions provided by your doctor carefully. You can also buy this tablet from an online medical store easily with a free doctor consultation on how to use this tablet. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage or take the medication for longer than recommended without consulting your doctor.

What are the common side effects of taking a Sompraz D 40 Tablet?

Tab Sompraz D 40 is considered safe and effective when a doctor prescribes it. However, some people may experience mild to severe side effects. The common side effects include:

  • Headache
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Flatulence
  • Nausea

Take Tab Sompraz D 40 with food to help reduce stomach upset. If these side effects persist or worsen, or if you experience any other concerning symptoms, it is important to consult with your doctor for further evaluation and guidance.

What happens if an excess of Sompraz D 40 Tablets are taken at once?

If you exceed the prescribed dose of Sompraz D Tablets in a day, you may experience headache, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhoea, and nausea. In that case, do not delay seeking medical help, even if symptoms seem mild initially.

If you miss a dose, take this tablet as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule. Do not double up to make up for a missed dose.

Is Sompraz D 40 Tablet safe during pregnancy?

The safety of Tab Sompraz D 40 has not been extensively studied in pregnant women. Therefore, it is recommended to use caution and consult with a doctor before using Sompraz D 40 Tablet during pregnancy. What are the safety precautions when taking Sompraz D 40 Tablet?

  • Use in children: Sompraz D Tablet is not meant to be used in children under 18 years of age. If your child is under 18, your doctor may recommend other alternatives.
  • Use in older adults: Older adults with heart disease, kidney dysfunction, and liver impairments should cautiously use this medication. The dosage may need to be adjusted.

Who should not take the Sompraz D 40 Tablet?

  • Severe liver impairment: Rarely, Tab Sompraz D 40 can lead to severe liver problems, potentially causing liver failure and inflammation of the brain. It may exacerbate existing liver conditions.
  • Bone fractures: Prolonged use of this tablet may heighten the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures in the hip, wrist, or spine.
  • Vitamin B12 deficiency: Extended use of this tablet can elevate the risk of Vitamin B12 deficiency.
  • Hypomagnesemia (low magnesium levels in the blood): Long-term use of this tablet may increase the likelihood of hypomagnesemia.
  • Heart diseases: Caution is advised when using this tablet in patients with underlying heart conditions like congestive heart failure (CHF), as it may heighten the risk of abnormal heartbeat.
  • Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea: This tablet can increase the risk of clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea, a severe form of diarrhoea.
  • Gastrointestinal Infections: Tab Sompraz D 40 may lead to a slightly increased risk of gastrointestinal infections that may worsen the existing condition.
