Despite the many benefits CBD products offer, there is a lot of misinformation that raises various questions about the herb in general. Most questions are centered around the legality of CBD-based products and whether or not you can consume them. One other major question people wonder about is whether or not you can drive after consuming CBD oil. Since driving under the influence is a major topic worldwide, this article breaks down what the law says and whether or not you can drive if you use CBD. Keep reading.

Can You Drive When Using CBD?

CBD is popular around the globe but is only considered legal in many countries and states. In the places where its sale and consumption are considered legal, its usage as a substance is allowed only as long as it follows regulatory guidelines. In the UK, for example, you can consume CBD oil provided the product doesn’t contain THC or tetrahydrocannabinol, the substance that gets you “high.” This substance is illegal in the UK for non-medical purposes. However, medicinal cannabis can have up to 0.2%THC.

The key to ensuring you’re not breaking any rules is by checking the law in whichever country you’re based and purchasing the right CBD oil. Using popular and trusted brands like OTO CBD ensures that you consume the right dosage without getting the ”high” feeling associated with THC since this product doesn’t contain THC.

Sadly, you can’t trust all brands to deliver the right amount of THC, which is a controlled substance. If you consume a CBD product with a higher THC level than the regulator allows, you might be driving under the influence and, in effect, receive a fine or court order.

Can You Drive Safely On CBD?

Aside from the legality that comes with controlled and uncontrolled substances, there is also the matter of prudence, which we should consider. The good news is that CBD doesn’t seem to impact driving, but you still need to ensure that when taking any CBD product, you’re not putting yourself and others in harm’s way.

If you’re taking cbd for the first time, it is recommended that you avoid driving altogether, just as you would for any other supplement or medicine type. Study yourself to know what your side effects of CBD are, be it tiredness or lightheadedness. This will give you insight into whether you can drive after taking CBD or if you’ll need to reduce your dosage whenever you need to be on the road.

There are instances where you might be stopped by the police and checked for THC. If this does occur, however, you might be asked to take a cannabis drug screening test or perform some task to be sure you’re not driving under the influence. With legal CBD in your system, failing a cannabis drug screening will be impossible, as you’d have to have over two micrograms of THC per milliliter of blood. Always ensure you obtain your supply from a reliable and trustworthy supplier.
